Review: James Bond – The Legacy

I forgot to give you guys a review of this book I finally finished.

Through time, I hope to give you reviews on every type of media which enters my life so that you (the consumer) may be well informed.

Backtrack six months ago – I was on a James Bond kick and discovered this great book via Amazon at a super low price of…I can’t remember. It was really low. Something like $20. By the way…shop on the used section of Amazon for great deals. Carrie introduced me to this way of reading.

Anyhow, so this James Bond book covers EVERYTHING. Movie production, actors involved, writers, business behind the movies, the books being written, the legal woes, the political climate at the time of the movies, what other movies were big, the spy genre, big photos, stats….you name it, they got it.

I seriously did not find anything missing from this book. They even included the pseudo-Bond film Never Say Never Again which is usually missing from other compendiums.

It’s a thick read. 320 Pages. It’s huge so I couldn’t bring it on the bus with me. So it’s was one of the ‘before I go to sleep’ books.

If you’re a fan of Bond and are interested in everything about him and his world, I recommend this book. I would even go as far as saying it’s worth the $75 price tag. It leads all the way up to the production of Die Another Day.

In other Bond news, I’ve heard that they are redoing all the Bond DVDs for better picture and audio quality. Hold off on your purchases!

Review: Smallville Season 3

Hey hey hey!

Another season of Smallville done!

I almost forgot to review it for my faithful readers.

I would to first start off by saying that I’ve brought Mike into the fold and he is addicted to the point where he is on Episode 16 of Season 4 while I am on Episode 4.

What can I say? What should I say? I know there are people out there that hate spoilers (such as myself) so I won’t go into that terrain.

What did I like about this season? Got a little darker…WAY darker in a few spots with the Luthors…less and less non-mythology episodes, more and more interesting plotlines.

What didn’t I like?
Well…I find the formula was wearing thin a little. Lana and Clark – they are like Dawson and Joey. On again, off again, blah blah blah. Is that what makes us love these shows? Because we are always wondering if they will work it out? Let’s be honest – In Superman III, we know that they never really hit it off after school. But, at the same time, Smallville is re-writing the history of Superman in some spots, so they can change on a moment’s notice.

Season 3: Final Verdict – Pretty killer episodes mythology wise. Best I’ve seen yet. The other filler episodes…meh.

Sneak Peek at Season 4: All I can say is that I’ve seen 4 episodes already and the series has new blood in it. I’m glad. It’s not old anymore. By the way, interesting developments with a certain someone with the initials LL. I am laughing at this because Eric was mentioning there is a fascination with the initials LL throughout the series…Lex Luthor, Lionel Luthor, Lana Lang…etc. I figured it may be because Superman’s real name is Kal-El.

Check out this Deal!

Go read Amin’s blog entry here.

His friend in Ottawa is selling off a SLEW of DVDs for killer, killer, wholesale prices. Sounds like he went out of business unfortunately.

I managed to pick up The Beatles Anthology (reg $70), Varsity Blues (hello whipped cream bikini!) and Spinal Tap for $50.

You can’t go wrong. I’m pumped to check out The Beatles Anthology…was a mini-series created by the remaining Beatles back in the 90s. I also received the companion book version of the mini-series from Vero at Christmas. I’m Beatled out!

People have been asking how I got a dent in my car. I have no idea. It’s on the underside of the bumper, so all I can think of it the car hit a curb or a snowbank…

Unbeknownst to some people, the roomie Mike just started his new job (for life!) at Foreign Affairs Canada today. Congrats!

I am hooked on Season 4 of Smallville. I believe Mike is hooked on it also seeing that he’s watched 16 hours of it in the past two days. Man, it would be cool to be retired. Wanna know what my ideal retirement would be, after I do all the travelling I want? Work at a comic shop and watch TV series all day long. End of story. And tend to my vineyards.
