Bluesfest 2013: Day 1 – Grand Funk Railroad, Black Keys

The night was steamy and the beer was flowing. But was it a killer opening?

Thoroughly enjoyed Grand Funk Railroad…I can’t get enough of those 70s bands!

Black Keys was quite underwhelming. While I couldn’t hear Trish speak to me during Jimmy Eat World around 7ish…I could hear a pin drop during the Black Keys at 9:30. even the crowd was crying “Louder! Louder! Turn it up!” I think there was some severe problems with the PA system for a long time.

In the end, I would say that the second half of their show was entertaining but it took me a long time to get into it. Don’t get me wrong…I really like Black Keys music…I just didn’t dig them as a band I guess. Maybe if my ears were blistering I would enjoyed it a little more.
