Wanted: Some Advice on Tires.
I don’t know if I need new tires or not, but I’ll run into Canadian Tire one day soon to measure the wear on the tires. It looks like the treads are starting to wear down so I figure before the winter hits, pick up a new set of all-seasons to last me for the next few years.
Here’s my question for you all – Where’s a good spot to buy tires? Should I be looking into used tires? What about new? Should I be hitting up Canadian Tire, Wal-Mart, Costco, the dealer?
Is it all about the price point or are there some tires that just plain suck?

ok, here is my opinion on tires, First wear, you can check this yourself. there are what is called wear bars on your tires that run perpendicular to the treads. If the treads and the wear bar are at the same level. replace the tires!
Secondly where to buy, this is a good time to buy tires. There will be sales out there soon, buy three get one free…You have to look at what services are offered. Canadian tire will give free tire rotation and flat fix for the life of the tires. The tires that Candian tire uses are actually made by the one of the big tire manufactures, this year it could be Firestone, next it could be Goodyear so they could be just as good as the brand name tires.
some things to keep in mind when you buy. figure out how much you drive each year. Tires are sold in KM values (30 000KM-150 000 KM)The former will be cheaper than the later. If you drive 30 000KM per year you’ll be changing the tiers every year if you buy 30 000Km tires. There is a letter rating for the tire as well this is its speed rating. If you tires are factory they might have a “G” rating. This is only good for speeds up to 120KM/h. Again the further down the alphabet the more expensive the tire!

oh, another thing, the tires that will be on sale will be price listed at the smallest tire. Unless you drice a Firefly or Tercel your tire size will cost more!
