Dad is Fine Now

Dad went for an angiogram this morning which lets the doctors take a look inside your heart to see if there is anything amiss. Sure enough, they then took him to put a stent inside an artery as there was blockage. I looked at a picture and I’m not a doctor but I would say the artery was 100% blocked as there was gap between one side of the artery to the other!

He is now resting as they have to cut open the main artery to get in to do this kind of thing and should be out of the hospital tomorrow. Hopefully this will fix it up!

The last few days in the hospital have been interesting and if I feel like it I’ll write more about them in the future. For now, I think I’ll take a nap but there is also this lingering question…

If he had an angiogram in October and it showed that an artery was 60% blocked and three months later, it is fully blocked (even though they said that would be rare), does this mean:

1) Someone misread the angiogram the first time and there was more blockage than originally thought?
2) Is there somehow some hyperactivity in Dad’s blockage-making centers of his body that make it blocked faster than a speeding bullet?

Ah well…we’ll figure this stuff out later.

Good to hear they discovered the problem and were able to do something about it. Say hello to him from Connie and I.

Hey Ryan! glad to hear your dad is doing better, it has been lingering in my thoughts that past couple of days. Give him our best… Happy New Year xo

It’s great to hear about your dad. It brings back some memories from a few years ago when my dad had to go through the same procedure following a heart attack. He still has the before and after pictures of the arteries in his heart from his angioplasty.

As for your misgivings regarding the quick progression of events, I would suggest you discuss this with your father and see if he can ask his cardiologist. I would definitely be weary of any information you come across from any source other than a qualified physician who is familiar with your father’s case.

Anyways, I’ve been through a similar situation a few years and if you want to talk, we can pull our a bottle of GlenParker one night and ponder the meaning of 42.

I have heard of people doing strange things before to get out of things.. but man angioplasty to get out of a Cruise… some on scotty You can’t use that as an excuse…all kidding aside… glad to hear your process went well… here isa little tid bit from the news….

JAN 2.2008 LONDON – There is a report that Paul McCartney has undergone secret heart surgery.
Britain’s Sun newspaper says the ex-beatle has undergone a coronary angioplasty after complaining of not feeling well.

The procedure has become fairly routine and involves opening up arteries to allow a greater flow of blood.
