In lieu of the upcoming event, I want to ask those who attended last year (or those who plan to attend this year) to leave some comments about what should be improved upon.
For example, SOMEONE thought my appetizers were burnt last year. Clearly they were not as I popped a few into my mouth. Alright, they were, fine. Be that way.
I’m going to list a few things that I think should be improved upon, and you can add a few of your own and expand.
Don’t get me wrong, I thought the party was awesome. But I do know that you should always try to improve a classic party.
Appetizers – Well, they were alright, but some of them also burnt. So, should I get better appetizers this year and make sure they aren’t burnt? What about the proximity to appetizers, were they hard to get to? Should I have a table in the corner and people can fill up a plate (I enjoyed this from Jen’s housewarming party).
Seating – Well, we all know there isn’t that much place to sit at Casa Losier/Palmer, but is that a big deal? Do people want to sit down? I would think this is a 50/50 scenario. People love the kitchen, but they also like to chill out. Should we get a few more chairs? How about the table? A few extra leaves in the table so people can sit down?
Games – As much as I didn’t like the idea of games last year, they actually turned out to be good times. I thoroughly enjoy the males vs. females trivia challenge and I think we should have an encore presentation of that. But should we have others? Should we have a euchre tourney down in the basement or is that just pushing it?
Gift Exchange – I think the gift exchange went over well with the ‘steal a gift’ routine so I think we’ll keep that unless everyone has any major objections.
Any other thoughts?

By the way people, there will be DECORATIONS this year! I’ll make sure of it.. (tee hee!) I have a question Ryan, last year everybody had to have a cheezy Christmas shirt, what’s it gonna be this year?? Any suggestions? (oh, and if you know cool games, let us know, cause no offence Ryan, but a card game? Come on, be creative here!)
Don’t listen to her Ryan, nothing wrong with cards, they have been around since the 11th century, (thank you wikipedia), they are fun, everyone (but Vero) loves cards. ;-).
I say play off your strengths, bring up the guitar, and the recording maching and do some kereoke.
I liked the huge box of condom prize.
They made good, and harmless throwing stars.
They made decorating your tree fun, and festive.
I want to see your sister get really drunk again, and tie her up in another sweater.
Also, what ever happened to post P1020163?
The gift exchange was great, but too many condoms!
If you want to get your party members involved with activities, I suggest hitting Jenn up for some fernie fest like ideas.
hmmm…..I’ve never planned Christmas themed craziness. That might take some extended thought. However, with limited space, occupied by many people, FernieFest-like activities may be difficult to pull off…
Plus, I’m surprised Matt isn’t keep this card up his sleeve for his cottage parties đŸ˜‰
Post P1020163 is when I go to flickr and say BLOG THIS PHOTO and then it just creates a blog entry with the photo number. Then I have to go into blogger and change the subject and the text. So there’s usually a gap of time between the time it posts to the blog and when I edit it.
Yeah, that’s right – flickr can post to blogs. You can also do that with ANY flickr site, even if it isn’t your own
Karaoeke – While an excellent idea, it makes it hard to host an event if I’m playing on guitar all night long. BUT that doesn’t prevent Matt “Keyboardist” Extraordinaire to jam on some Christmas tunes.
Condom Prize – SOmething similar (if not the same) will make another appearance.
Sister – We’ll see if she shows up this year. SHe lives near London now…a little far.
As for Fernie Fest…uhhh…
A Christmas decorating Challenge !!!! go ahead ask for more details….appetisers…Make it global…get a recipie from uncle Gerry in Singapore… start now… sweet & sour meatballs (Apple Jelly and Ketchup for the S & S sauce) Lumpia…a Philipino style spring roll…scallops wrapped with bacon, & lastly smoked salmon….
games… everyone write a verse to a tune….have that on the invitation..must be submitted by email .. pre pick a tune… pass the digital camera…Stock ticker for the cash minded youth….Risk for the world domination type….Trivia for the know it all .. winners get to pick first gifts under the tree…no names on the packages… just wrapped presents….I wrote a wonderful poem last year… Ode to a Mother in law !!! just ask Nanny Ruth hahaha
Oh, god, not the sweater again! :p Depending on the situation and when it’s closer to the party I will know if I’ll be able to make it. I’m sure you don’t know the date of it right now but I’ll see what I can do.
Better choose the date soon.
Last year work set their Christmas party on the same day as yours, only your party was scheduled like a month earlier.

I dislike Dec 15, 16, or 17.
(On call)
Thanks for all the ideas Gerry! Those are great!
