Thanks to Maren, Mike and Vero for providing you with some entertaining stories and thoughts over the past few weeks! I especially enjoyed the questioning of why there is toast served in the Chinese Food restaurant in Hearst!
Last night I went to see Iron Man (review to follow) and afterwards I dropped by Vero’s place with some ice cream in tow. I began talking again about her dislike of all things robots and realized that it stemmed from watching Robocop which definitely isn’t a kids movie.
Then I asked her if she had ever seen some funny robots who were nice and not malicious like ED-209. I then thought our friend, Johnny 5 from Short Circuit! He was the best. “Johnny Five, He’s Alive!” Ah, a relic from the 80s but oh so funny. After describing him, she realized that she DID remember this robot (although Maren didn’t when I was talking about it which prompts a Short Circuit viewing this summer!) and we had a good laugh watching the trailer for the film on Youtube.
Let us all share some fond memories of Johnny 5! I personally remember rewinding and watching the ending of Short Circuit 2 where “Holding Out for a Hero” by Bonnie Tyler is played while Johnny 5 runs away from some villains (or he’s doing something spectacular like jumping onto a helicopter or something like that). It was the music that really got me rewinding it all the time but Johnny 5 now holds a special place in my mind when I hear that song being played.
One reply on “Johnny 5 is Alive!”
hahaha John and I watched that again sometime last year.
