Vero has competed in Improv games since in high school. Improv is like “Whose Line is it Anyways?” for all the English folk out there. The Francophone community definitely knows what improv is.
She did not participate in the past year due to other obligations, but a few weeks ago her old team asked if she could take part in the semi-finals since a girl dropped out. Plus, she kicks ass and would guarantee a spot in the Finals. She’s great.
So the semi-finals were last night and they were getting ready and the girl who dropped out comes back and they end up taking her back onto the team – leaving Vero in the dust.
Then the guilt sets in of course and they say stuff like “Don’t worry, we’ll bring you into the Finals with us!” and “We’ll make sure your name is on the cup!”

What the hell man? This is a classic case of Nice People Getting Screwed. Here is helpful Vero taking time out of her night to do something she’s really excited to do, and then she gets thrown to the wayside.
If I was in the team, I would have said “You know what? You bailed on us and we had to get a replacement. We appreciate that you’re back, but why don’t you sit this one out and when we get to the Finals you can come on back.”
Or, in a less polite manner “You vermin, get bent.”
In the end, Vero gets screwed and nice people shouldn’t get screwed. I especially like how the team said “Yeah, come on back for the Finals!”. Right…so she can just not play in the games again?
Word to the asses of the world: If you’re going to be an ass anyhow, don’t feel guilty about it. Step up like a man (or whoa-man), say you’re sorry and end it like that. No one needs to hear your pitiful speech. It just makes people laugh at you.

100% agreed.
In fact, with our ultimate teams, we do this.
If someone bails, or doesn’t come, and we have to get a sub. Then later, the original person shows, the sub plays while the original person doesn’t. It’s truly only fair.
I say let is slide, chalk it up to experience.
Bad points
– I would have had fun in the improv game,
– that girl is a bitch for leaving and coming back last minute,
– The team shouldn’t have called me in and dropped me, it was mean spirited.
– I did not get to look at cool hats
But in also
– I got to hang out with my friends.
– It was walking distance from my room.
– Next time I will get them to guarantee I am playing if I attend.
– No one was physically hurt.
– I got ice cream, … and got to watch an … uhm movie… that .. didn’t give me nightmares… and had some nudity (see there were some good points to the movie).
– I was not horribly disfigured.
– I got to hang out more with Matt Masse
Good points out weigh bad points.
I would rather be horribly disfigured than to let Matt choose the movie next time.
My favourite thing about Matt is the fact that he won’t listen to everyone’s choices.
Clearly, he is a dictatorship in the video store. 😉
I can even remember his fighting words “Dude, it has God, SEX, and Apple Pie. What more can you ask for?”

I think you should stand them up for the finals… or better yet, find a different team and WIN!
That is truly shitty, I hope that the next time they ask for a favour, she tells them to go right to hell! Since we know that Vero isn’t that kind of person, I hope you think it!
I agree with you 100% Ryan!, not fair to Vero at all. I think the team should have stepped up and said to the other girl ‘you’re outta here’, sucks to be you…

Thanks guys. Meh, no biggy. just for the reccord, I decided not to show up for the finals. I would still feel bad about it if the other girl didn’t show up… cause if none of us did, they would have been refused the play…. But didn’t hear anything about it. Eighter they’re pissed at me not for showing up or eighter they lost in the finals….
Still feel bad, usualy I wouldn’t do such a thing… but I think they acted like morons to do what they did….
For the reccord: Never let Matt decide on the movie you guys will rent! Heck, have to say that the movie plus the Ice cream did cheer me up. Thanks buddy. I’m actually happy I spended the evening with both of you instead of staying at improv.
