Monday
Arrived in Ottawa from the trip. Went to get Batman tickets. No such luck.
Tuesday
Went to get Batman tickets. No such luck. Realized I should wait until next week to try again. Ended up picking some groceries and had dinner with Vero and Mel.
Went to look for a used bicycle for Vero. Saw an awesome Tim Horton’s cruiser. She didn’t care for it. We then dropped by and saw Alex and Carrie. Chatted with Alex about his window renovations and then chatted with Carrie for awhile about the gossip.
Wednesday
Saw this article on things to do without spending money. Caught glimpse of the entry about scrap booking and realized that I had a box of old Europe souvenirs lying around somewhere which I wanted to throw into a scrapbook years ago. Vero wants to do the same thing so I suggested we do that. I packed up a box with the stuff and headed over to her place. The event didn’t really include Vero as she was absorbed in my journal from Eurotrip 2005 and spent the night reading it. I managed to separate my items into piles of where I’ve been and now have to select a few photos to print out to add to the book as well. Then I guess I’ll have to pick up a book. I don’t know what I want to pick up but I definitely do not want to go the full route of ‘new age scrap booking’ where you need to buy $500 in materials. I just want something simple where I tape my items and photos to a page and write a comment next to a few of them. When did scrap booking becoming a million dollar enterprise?!
Thursday
Went to have a few drinks with Krista after work. It was a good time to catch up as July has been a whirlwind. I then proceeded to arrive home and pass a beer to Mike and we watched a bit of a Pumpkins DVD, a Pearl Jam DVD and then I showed Mike what the circle of fifths in music theory was all about and I think it opened up this other world for him. I know it did for me when I realized it’s power. Special thanks to Troy for his great guitar lessons which we cracked open last night.
I also stumbled upon this amazing deal on laptop memory at Futureshop. They were selling 2GB of laptop RAM for $35! What a steal. It was $45 off of the regular price. Now my Macbook will have the most RAM it can take and I hope it will improve our editing capabilities with Final Cut Pro. I did notice a significant difference while doing other CPU intensive operations such as importing a CD into iTunes which went from a mere 3x to 10.5x in speed. With 2GB added, I shall be flying. I consider this a birthday gift to myself.
Friday
Not much is planned for Friday. Vero and I are heading out to Hawkesbury as Amelie and Daniel are in town for a wedding. So we will go to dinner with them. Tomorrow will be spent going to Deep River to visit Shannon and Maureen. That shall be fun and I heard there are some boats being brought up for the event. Awww yeah!
